Marjum Welfare Society is a non-governmental organization established in the year 1999. Sri Doi Ado, former minister, Government of Arunachal Pradesh is a founder of this society.
He started this society for the advancement of the tribal community in particular and all of the people of
our country and world in general.
For the cause of nation this society has been working sincerely since its inception. It runs a teacher
education institute in the name and style of Teachers Training College B. Ed. Aalo located at Doi Ado Hills
Bogdo Aalo, West Siang District, Arunachal Pradesh.
This society is a secular, philanthropic and not-for-profit organization of our country. It has been registered under the Societies’ Registration Act of 1860. This organization works for educational advancement of the tribal community. Its exemplary work in the field of education, relief efforts and works during the Covid 19 pandemic and outstanding contribution to population issues have been recognized by the state government and intellectual society. It has been trying to improve the educational status of the women by organizing workshops and meetings at different places of the state. For making the women more conscious and awakened this organization is now going to open a residential Higher Secondary School from the coming session.
The Marjum Welfare Society has been also working for the promotion, preservation and protection of the Himalayan Cultures and traditions. As the present generation is now going to forget the age old cultural development, traditional values and pristine glory of the Himalayan terrain, so this society has taken a positive step to promote and preserve the age old traditional values and customs. There is no any book for the tribal people of the Himalayan region to throw light upon the rites and ritual celebrated at different occasion. To preserve the traditional values and customs there is a great need of the books or treatise which can tell about the ways of worshipping of the gods and goddesses of tribal people. In this direction this organization is working and very soon some books will be published under its aegis.
This society also works in the area of art & culture, agriculture, disaster management, eco-tourism, environment and natural resource management, rural development & poverty alleviation, vocational training, water and sanitation and sustainable development. This society mainly operates in the state of Arunachal Pradesh, but our target is to cover whole nation in coming years.
A child without education is like a bird without wings. Education enables younger generations to have a better quality o life and it can improve social development, moral upliftment and spiritual advancement. It sets free mind, body and soul from any kind of slavery and it leads mankind towards sumum bonum or liberation. So, it should be spread everywhere to everyone.
Our pristine culture has glorious traditions. We should preserve our indigenous cultural heritage. We should glorify our traditional values, beliefs and customs. These are our assets. We should protect our indigenous faith and distinct Himalayan culture. It is our identity. It should be promoted and valued.
Our traditional values are significant. Our ancestors have conferred us valuable treasures of knowledge in different forms and shape. They should be preserved and promoted everywhere for the well being of common masses. They should be transferred to our rising generations with utmost care. Their values should be displayed and exposed to them.
